In my years of developing websites, I’ve probably bought around 20 domains in total. When I was just starting out, I was too excited to get my own .COM that I didn’t stop to consider doing proper research first. I purchased my early domains from big names like GoDaddy and Namecheap which would cost me around ₱750 a year. Some would say that that’s too expensive however, I didn’t know any better, much less care.
It wasn’t until I started buying additional domains that I realized, “Woaw, this is getting too pricey”. The renewal charges started hitting me and if I were to pay them all next year, it would take a huge cut on my salary. In the Philippines, a regular BPO employee can only earn around ₱20,000 or $400 a month, which is barely enough especially if you live in big cities like Manila and Cebu. Right then, I decided that I had to look for a new domain registrar. After trying from one after the other, I eventually stumbled upon CrazyDomains.ph. With a price tag of only ₱429 a year per domain, I’m happy to say that I’ve stuck with them since then.
CrazyDomains has actually been around for a long time now especially in Australia. They have offices around the world including in Cebu, hence the .PH on their URL. To be honest, at first I was hesitant to try them out because of the negative feedback I’ve read from other sites that complained about their hosting. But hey, I wasn’t looking for web hosting, I just wanted to buy cheap domains and have them all in one registrar. So I took a leap and since then I’ve purchased about 5 more with CrazyDomains with no major issues whatsoever. So if you are looking to purchase a name for your site or blog, here are some reasons why you should buy your domains at CrazyDomains too.
The price for a .COM domain name on CrazyDomains is one of the cheapest ones out there, if not the most! As of today, their domains only cost ₱429 a year, which is almost half of GoDaddy’s rate of ₱750. The price also doesn’t change whenever you renew, which means that it’s always going to be the same amount for succeeding years. Some registrars tend to advertise the occasional ‘$1/first year’ sale, just to jack it up to the domain’s original price the next year. Whenever I buy a new domain, I always think long-term and paying only ₱429 is much more practical.
Also, CrazyDomains.ph charges you by pesos, not by US dollars. So even if there’s a small change in peso-dollar conversion, it will not affect their prices.
Whenever you purchase a new domain, you get a free site builder and a free email account. It’s not much but it’s something. But really, if you already have a web hosting provider, you won’t really be needing either service. CrazyDomains, for me personally, is just a good place to purchase cheap domains. If you are looking for another good cheap alternative with more features like free WHOIS Privacy, then I’d advise checking out PorkBun.
CrazyDomains also has a lucrative Affiliates program where you can earn from referring other people to purchase their services. I haven’t found great success with it because I haven’t been that hell-bent to get other people to join in. I hope to change that with this post.
There’s not much to say other than that the Domains’ dashboard is pretty straightforward. Not too complicated if you want to update your domain’s nameservers or DNS records. A name server update only takes around a few seconds to minutes, unlike other registrars where propagation can take hours or even days.
This is a hit and miss for me though it’s mostly positive. Their support representatives on Live Chat are nice and very responsive. Their email support, however, is just okay because it can take hours before you can hear from them. I had a problem before where I updated the nameservers too many times in a short span of time. This caused issues on the propagation, which I know was totally my fault. So I sent an email because their Live Chat was offline, only to receive an update later that night that wasn’t very useful. I eventually lost interest and just waited for the propagation to finish, which solved my problem.
But overall, I think CrazyDomains’ support services are great in spite what others have posted about it. I haven’t tried their phone support but maybe I will in the future.
If you are like me who don’t want to spend too much but still want the best for your money, then I would strongly suggest CrazyDomains. It is very affordable and does its job well by providing fast propagation and active support. However, it would be even better if they could provide more features to their customers. With that, they would attract even more people.
