Buying pasalubong or souvenirs for your loved ones is not a new practice. I’m sure that for anyone who has traveled before, they’ve always had something to bring back home to their friends or families. It can be in the form of gift cards, chocolates, shirts, keychains, and even dried food! It may be an extra cost to your wallet, but seeing the happy faces of whoever you’ll be giving them to makes it all worth it.
I travel from Bacolod to Cebu regularly and sometimes, if my budget allows it, I try to bring something for my friends and family. I usually opt for food though because everyone I know has already been to Cebu so keychains aren’t really the ideal gifts. There are hundreds of places to buy pasalubong or souvenirs in Cebu, not only from stores but from street vendors too. However, there are two places where I would always return to whenever I feel like bringing something back to Bacolod. These are actually the most popular ones where travelers usually tend to flock.
Best Pasalubong Center in Cebu for Food
I know a lot of Cebuanos will agree that whenever it comes to the question of where to buy dried mangoes in Cebu, Shamrock will be on the top of their list. Shamrock has been around for some time now and they’ve always been the go-to store when it comes to buying delicacies. They do not sell chocolates, however, as their products are primarily focused around pastries.
The best place to buy dried mangoes and otap in Cebu
You can’t find better dried mangoes than in Shamrock. Its unique chewy texture and addicting taste probably makes it the most sought-after among tourists and locals alike. If you love eating dried mangoes and would prefer buying them at a lower price than from supermarkets, then you would certainly enjoy rummaging through the merchandise at their Pasalubong Centers. They sell different brands so it’s good to know that there are options to choose from. Dried mangoes prices can range from ₱30 to ₱70 per pack.
Another delicious and popular pastry you can find in Shamrock is Otap, a sugar-coated cookie which originated in Cebu. It is considered to be the brand’s signature delicacy.
So where are they located?
Shamrock has three Pasalubong Centers in Cebu City. One is just across Fuente Osmeña Circle, the other store is near the Capitol building, and the last one is at Pari-an, a few meters away from the Heritage of Cebu Monument.
Best Souvenir Shop in Cebu for Clothes
Okay, so some may disagree with me as there are a lot of souvenir shops in Cebu that sell clothes, caps, key chains and etc., but what I like the most about Islands Souvenirs is that they are an established brand, their stores are huge (by souvenir-selling standards), and they have a large amount of merchandise. Different shirt designs and sizes to choose from, pillows, necklaces – just about anything you can wear. For their apparel, prices can start at ₱100.
Great! So shirts, slippers, and shorts. What else?
They also offer food products and delicacies like dried mangoes, chocolates, drinks, and toys for the kids. They also sell wood-carved mini-jeepneys, if you like having one of those, and refrigerator magnets.
Where can I find them?
The Islands Souvenirs store that I usually go to is located across McDonald’s, just near the Sto. Nino church and Magellan’s Cross. They used to have a branch near Fuente Osmeña Circle but that was replaced for quite some time now.
So those were the best pasalubong center and souvenir shop in Cebu. For those who are about to travel to Cebu or are already here and are looking for options, I hope that you find this post useful. If you are really unable to get to these places, don’t worry as there are always other souvenir vendors in the city.
Enjoying Cebu? Why not also head to Bantayan Island?
